Battle of the Bands
Last night was the annual Battle of the Bands hosted at the club. The event started well with Rachel texting yesterday morning to tell us we had free tickets. Hazzah! (AED 10 saved each! (£1.40!)). Turned up early so we did not miss the Pub Grubs (see earlier blog on band nights) who had the rotten luck to be first on at the unfashionably early time of 7.45.
Arrived to find that our tickets included a free bottle of Be! Having tried this on a previous occasion and discovered that the added caffeine, guava and ginseng made one a tad AWAKE we took our bottles (not gonna waste £1.40!) and passed on to friends who needed waking up.
Dan commenced with the immortal line "We're the Pub Grubs and this is what we do", I wonder where that came from? Then the fun started. Twenty minutes of pure
entertainment, the crowed loved 'em. I would have happily paid twice as much to see them do a full set. So, did they win? Unfortunately not. Despite Jems best efforts he couldn't out wiggle some of the 'dancing girls' fronted by the other bands. On the brighter side Steve walked away with the award for best drum solo. Well done chap. Right.....the piccies!
